Many are wondering why Good Omens Season 3 has shifted its format from a six-episode series to a single episode. The new season centers on Aziraphale, who becomes the Supreme Archangel and is granted the responsibilities of the Second Coming. When things go awry, he is left with no option but to seek the help of estranged Crowley, forcing them to confront their fractured bond.

Why does Good Omens Season 3 have just one episode?
Good Omens Season 3 was cut short into a single 90-minute episode. This was after Neil Gaiman removed his involvement from the series, following multiple sexual assault allegationsagainst him.
Good Omens Season 3 was confirmed in 2023, with the announcement that it will consist of six episodes, similar to its predecessors. However, the show took a different turn in light of allegations from multiple women against Gaiman. The allegations include sexual misconduct, coercion, and sexual encounters within BDSM contexts that were alleged to be non-consensual. However, Gaiman has denied all the accusations.
He said in a statement, “As I read through this latest collection of accounts, there are moments I half-recognise and moments I don’t, descriptions of things that happened sitting beside things that emphatically did not happen. I’m far from a perfect person, but I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever.”
After Gaiman stepped away from the production, the final season was reduced to a single episode. Moreover, David Tennant also previously revealed that Season 3 was decided to be the series’ final chapter, and that they are thankful it happened. Otherwise, leaving the story on a cliffhanger wouldn’t have been ideal.
“There’s been a slight rejig with the personnel. But we still get to tell that story – I think it would have been very difficult to leave it on a cliffhanger. So I’m glad that’s been worked out,” he told The Independent.
Good Omens Season 3 is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
