Will Smith is set to extend his stint with action movies, in light of the Bad Boys franchise’s success, and the Oscar winner is now part of yet another high-octane project. Helmed by David Gordon Green (Halloween, The Exorcist: Believer), the movie has now received an update on its title and other key details.

What do we know about Will Smith’s new action movie Supermax?
Smith’s next action movie will be called Supermax, a thriller. It will follow two FBI agents investigating a murder that takes place inside the world’s most secure prison, reports Deadline. Along with the Hollywood star, his other FBI partner is going to be a female character. An actress is yet to be announced for the role.
Supermax will mark one of Smith’s few recent non-franchise films. What’s interesting to note is that the movie won’t hit theaters. It will be directly released for streaming. Moreover, the production is set to begin mid-August. Smith’s most recent big appearance was in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which was a huge hit. The 2024 film went on to make over $400 million worldwide on a budget of $100 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
As for the script of the upcoming Will Smith action movie, it’s written by David Weil and David J. Rosen (Hunters, Invasion). Producers include Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman. Additionally, Smith and Adam Fishbach are also producing the film.
Weil and Rosen are also executive producing alongside associate producer Natalie Laine Williams. Additional executive producers include Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, Thom Zadra, and Spencer Ela.
Speaking of the director, Gordon Green has got several hits under his belt as of late, including multiple Halloween titles in the iconic horror franchise. In terms of scale and budget, however, Supermax is going to be his biggest movie to date. His recent project includes an Amazon TV series called Scarpetta.
Supermax is yet to receive a release date window.
