AMC’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s esteemed novels radically evolved in its third season, rebranding from Interview with the Vampire into The Vampire Lestat.
As the retitle suggests, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) takes centre stage as the story pivots to his rock star era, making it a wild departure from the post-World War II setting of season 2.
With the finale having already aired in the US, and soon to arrive in the UK as part of an iPlayer box set, attention has turned to whether Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Lestat’s story will extend to a fourth season.
Here’s everything we know so far about The Vampire Lestat season 4 (formerly known as Interview with the Vampire), including the latest comments about the future of the fantasy franchise.
Will there be a season 4 of The Vampire Lestat?
AMC has not announced a renewal for a fourth season of The Vampire Lestat (aka Interview with the Vampire) just yet, but there’s reason to be optimistic for the future of the acclaimed drama.
The Vampire Lestat has performed strongly on AMC+, topping the streamer’s charts, and hopefully repairing its faith in Anne Rice adaptations after the disappointing performance of Talamasca: The Secret Order (cancelled after just one season).
Chief content officer Dan McDermott has said the network is “looking at all the books in the canon” to keep the story of Louis, Lestat, Molloy and Armand going “for another two seasons at least” (via The Ankler).
He cited The Queen of the Damned and The Tale of the Body Thief as the “natural next books in the cycle”, suggesting these are being actively discussed for future seasons.
McDermott also acknowledged the show could rebrand again with a new title, as it did moving into The Vampire Lestat, while keeping the core quartet of characters central.
What have the cast and creators of The Vampire Lestat said?
Executive producer Mark Johnson has been the most direct about the show’s future.
He told ScreenRant he is “actively and quickly thinking about what season 4 is and exactly how soon we can make it”. Johnson added that he “can’t imagine” Lestat and Louis’s story ending with season 3, insisting “there has to be a season 4 of this one”.
Johnson also confirmed there is no strict mandate to follow the novels exactly, meaning a fourth season could diverge from or blend Rice’s source material rather than adapt a single book beat for beat.

More recently, The Vampire Lestat stars Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson teased Radio Times about where the third season leaves their characters, hinting at exciting new opportunities made possible by the new iteration.
“They’re going to end up in a very different place to where they started. I can definitely, like, I can guarantee that,” said Anderson.
“Also, this season, I think, Louis and Lestat end up in a new sort of zone with each other… some new things happen in their relationship [which] open up more possibilities.”
Who could be in the The Vampire Lestat season 4 cast?
No season 4 cast has been confirmed, but AMC’s comments emphasise keeping the central figures in place, meaning Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson and Eric Bogosian could reprise their roles.
If a fourth season adapts The Queen of the Damned, Sheila Atim’s Akasha, introduced in season 3, would be expected to feature more prominently.
