*Warning – contains spoilers for all six episodes of I, Jack Wright season 1*

It’s been over a year since I, Jack Wright, the star-studded drama series from Unforgotten creator Chris Lang, debuted on U&Alibi, and we still haven’t got a season 2 yet.
Thankfully, we finally got news regarding the show’s future in March 2026, with the series set to change channel, but confirmed to return for a new batch of episodes.
It’s a huge relief for fans, after the ending of season 1 left plenty of questions up in the air, and literally finished out on a title card saying “to be continued”.
So what news has been announced regarding the show’s future, when will we find out just what did happen to Jack, and who from the cast is set to return?
Read on for everything you need to know about I, Jack Wright season 2.
Will there be an I, Jack Wright season 2?

There will! The first season of I, Jack Wright aired on U&Alibi in April 2025, after which there was a long wait for news, despite season 1 literally ending with a title card saying “to be continued…”.
Speaking at a Q&A for the series ahead of its debut, Chris Lang had said of a potential continuation: “There is definitely the potential for another series. And then another!”
“And not just from this story, but there’s potential always for another family,” he continued. “I, Sue Smith, or whatever. It’s a universal story that has endless possibility.”
News on the show’s future finally arrived in March 2026, when it was confirmed that the BBC had acquired a second season of I, Jack Wright, along with the first season.
This means that season 2 will now air on BBC One and iPlayer, rather than on U&Alibi, and season 1 will also be re-broadcast by the channel, with that expected to happen this year.
Sue Deeks, head of scripted pre-buy acquisitions at the BBC, said in a statement: “I, Jack Wright is a terrific family thriller. Full of enjoyable performances, with really clever twists and turns, it is simply pure entertainment.”
Meanwhile Polly Williams, Executive Producer for production company Federation Stories said: “I, Jack Wright is a riotous, pacey treat and we are so thrilled that series 1 and 2 will air on BBC. Dysfunctional families are endlessly fascinating, and in I, Jack Wright, Chris has created an unforgettable crew whom we hope audiences will be appalled, moved, and surprised by.”
When will I, Jack Wright season 2 air?

We don’t yet know when I, Jack Wright season 2 will arrive on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, but it seems likely that it will be some time in 2027.
After all, season 2 wasn’t officially greenlit until March 2026, and the BBC is yet to broadcast season 1, which it will do before season 2 arrives.
We will keep this page updated as and when we get any more concrete information. For now, we have got the synopsis for season 2 to tide us over, which teases that “the Wrights are back – and deadlier than ever”.
“Still reeling from the death of patriarch Jack, the family are blindsided by the arrest of one of their own for his murder,” the synopsis says. “But have the police got the right person? And more importantly, how could this affect their inheritance payouts?
“Add in one new family member, two new wills, and three new bodies, and prepare for an explosive return to the twisted world of the Wright family.”
Who will return for I, Jack Wright season 2?

When I, Jack Wright season 2 was officially confirmed, a selection of returning cast members were announced.
Nikki Amuka-Bird, John Simm, Daniel Rigby, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis and Harry Lloyd were all confirmed to be back as their key characters, while two newcomers were also announced, with Tom Austen and Zora Bishop set to play currently undisclosed new characters.
Of course, the first season of I, Jack Wright featured quite the ensemble, with the likes of Gemma Jones, Zoë Tapper, Rakhee Thakrar, Liz Kingsman, James Fleet, Sabrina Bartlett and Percelle Ascott all playing key characters.
We imagine that a number of them could well return, as could Trevor Eve, whose character Jack’s demise set off the events of season 1, but who could return for flashbacks.
