Actor Adah Sharma has announced her next project, a quirky superhero film titled Super Velli, directed by filmmaker Rajesh Bachchani. Sharing the announcement on social media, Adah also addressed the curiosity sparked by a recent video she posted in which she referred to herself as “Velli.” The clip had led to speculation online, with some reports suggesting that the actor was idle or out of work. Responding to the chatter, the actress revealed that the phrase was actually connected to her upcoming character.

Adah explained the context behind the viral moment, saying, “A few days ago I put out a video on Social media saying ” I’m Velli ” and news channels picked it up saying I’m out of work and idle. People told me to clear it up. But then I thought “What would Velli do? She would be too lazy to correct it. So in the spirit of being Velli , here’s Super Velli!”

The upcoming film introduces a deliberately flawed superhero who appears to subvert the traditional idea of responsibility often associated with the genre. The premise draws on the famous line popularized in Spider‑Man films but twists it into a more chaotic scenario. As the concept suggests, “With great power comes great responsibility.” But now Velli has this power! Would she treat it as a responsibility… or as a weapon? Velli is a corrupt, irresponsible, self-centric person. Now if she becomes ‘Super-Velli’ with superpowers will she destroy the world?

Director Rajesh Bachchani shared why Adah was the perfect fit for the role, recalling her earlier performances in the action franchise Commando. He said, “I remember Adah’s fun character Bhavna Reddy from Commando movies her genuine raw talent with an intelligent, sharp yet quirky personality, and humour and action there was no doubt, that Adah is our Super-Velli. I’ve been working on the script for 3 years and we are making something new and fresh for the audiences.”

The film’s teaser reportedly hints at a hero who would rather nap than save the world but somehow finds herself caught in unexpected chaos. Instead of the conventional cape-wearing superhero, the character is portrayed as messy, unpredictable, and flawed—qualities that add a satirical edge to the narrative.

Known for taking on unconventional roles, Adah Sharma has built a reputation for experimenting with different genres. After the buzz surrounding The Kerala Story, the actor now appears set to explore a completely different cinematic space with a project that blends action, comedy, and satire.
