Two images have been released for I Am Helen, the latest addition to Dominic Savage’s I Am series, giving us our first look at Nicola Coughlan and Joe Cole in their roles.

The two-part season, which has once again been written and directed by Savage and produced by award winning Me+You Productions, stars Coughlan as Helen, with the Bridgerton actor having developed the story with Savage.
Peaky Blinders star Cole’s role is currently under wraps, but he appears to be playing Helen’s partner, with the images showing the two of them sat on a bed, seemingly arguing.
The synopsis for I Am Helen says: “Told through a female lens, the story examines the pressures and expectations placed on women while confronting the realities of toxic masculinity and the damage it can create in modern relationships.”

There have been three previous seasons of I Am, although the most recent was just one episode, I Am Ruth, which starred Kate Winslet and aired in 2022.
Other actors to have taken the lead in episodes of I Am have included Vicky McClure, Samantha Morton, Gemma Chan, Suranne Jones, Letitia Wright and Lesley Manville.
I Am Helen will be the first time in the show’s history that one story stretches across two episodes, which are set to air on Channel 4 later this year.

When the season was first announced, Coughlan said in a statement: “It’s an absolute honour to be part of telling the next I Am… story alongside Dominic Savage – a singular talent and a storyteller deeply committed to exploring the breadth of the female experience.
“To follow in the footsteps of the brilliant women who’ve collaborated with him on this series feels truly surreal, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be embarking on this journey.”
I Am Ruth won two BAFTA awards and one RTS award, while the series has also been nominated a number of additional times by both awards bodies.
I Am Helen will air on Channel 4.
