There’s even more schedule chaos ahead. Both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have found themselves bumped off our screens tonight (Friday 26 June) to make way for broadcast of the World Cup.

This is despite the serial dramas being in a new “power hour” format, which was introduced in January.
At the time, it was deemed that by reducing the weekly output from six to five episodes, airing for 30 minutes each from 8pm on weekdays, it would provide more consistency for viewers.
ITV’s managing director of media and entertainment Kevin Lygo said: “We believe this is the right amount of episodes that fans can fit into their viewing schedule, to keep up to date with the shows.
“Research insights also show us that soap viewers are increasingly looking to the soaps for their pacey storytelling. Streaming-friendly, 30-minute episodes better provide the opportunity to meet viewer expectations for storyline pace, pay-off and resolution.”

However, since then, the soaps have been booted around left, right and centre, and tonight is no exception.
Instead of the soaps, ITV will air coverage of Norway v France from 7pm, with kick-off an hour later. This is the final match in Group I for both teams, held at Boston Stadium in the USA.
But when will Corrie and Emmerdale next be on our screens? Fear not, Radio Times has the latest.
When are Coronation Street and Emmerdale next on?
ITV’s TV guide is currently billing that Emmerdale will return on Tuesday 30 June at 7:45pm for an hour-long episode, and this will be followed by Coronation Street at 8:45pm, also an hour-long.
However, it’s important to note that next week’s TV schedules have not yet been officially confirmed, with the knockout stages of the World Cup set to begin on Sunday (28 June).
At the time of writing, most of the round of 32 match-ups are yet to be determined, with ITV and the BBC dividing up the games between them as the teams involved become clear.
So until then, next week’s timings are still up in the air – keep checking Radio Times for further updates when we get them.

In next week’s Emmerdale, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) goes to the police to report that Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) was blackmailing her. DS Reid (Angela Lonsdale) gives some bad news – the blackmail allegation will be treated separately from the sexual assault charge.
Meanwhile, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) becomes suspicious when cousin Serena (Casey Al-Shaqsy) mentions she knows about Robert’s (Ryan Hawley) murderous brother John (Oliver Farnworth).
In Corrie, the Driscolls prepare to head to court for Megan Walsh’s (Beth Nixon) trial. They’re stunned when her mother Janine arrives and explains how she wants to help them.
Later, Janine meets up with Megan and it becomes clear that she’s actually trying to secure her daughter’s freedom.
Emmerdale usually airs weeknights at 8pm and Coronation Street usually airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1. Both can be streamed from 7am that day on ITVX.
