Amazon MGM Studios introduced the first trailer for Verity during its presentation at CinemaCon, giving exhibitors an early look at the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel (via The Hollywood Reporter). The teaser was screened as part of the studio’s upcoming theatrical slate, marking the project’s first official preview.
It outlines the story of Lowen Ashleigh, played by Dakota Johnson, a writer struggling to establish herself who is approached by Jeremy Crawford, portrayed by Josh Hartnett. He asks her to complete a successful book series originally written by his wife, Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway, after she is left unable to continue following a serious accident. Lowen moves into their residence to begin the work, where she is given access to Verity’s notes and unpublished material.
As she reviews the documents, Lowen discovers a manuscript that details Verity’s past, including her relationship with Jeremy. The contents of the manuscript begin to raise troubling questions, suggesting that there may be more to the family’s history than initially presented. Her unease deepens when she begins to notice inconsistencies, including moments where Verity appears to move despite being presumed incapacitated.
The teaser further builds tension through a series of unsettling interactions, leading to where Verity suddenly grabs Lowen and kisses her. Directed by Michael Showalter, the film also features Ismael Cruz Córdova and Brady Wagner. Hoover serves as a producer on the project, which follows previous adaptations of her work, including It Ends With Us, Regretting You, and Reminders of Him.
Verity is scheduled for a wide theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
