Daredevil: Born Again Kills Off [Spoiler], Brings in Familiar Face

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 dropped its most gut-punching hour yet with Episode 7. The penultimate chapter closes the book on one player caught between loyalty and conscience, while a familiar face from Hell’s Kitchen’s past quietly slips back into frame just when Matt Murdock needs every ally he can get.

Daniel Blake (Michael Gandolfini) died in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 7, “The Hateful Darkness.” Buck Cashman (Arty Froushan) shot Daniel after he freed BB Urich (Genneya Walton) and refused to reveal her location. Daniel discovered the flash drive in BB’s pocket, exposing her as the City Without Fear leaker against Wilson Fisk.

Daniel originally survived in the filmed Episode 7. Gandolfini revealed that showrunners later added a gunshot flare and blood on the floor after wrapping. Gandolfini learned about the change in October and informed co-stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Froushan first. Gandolfini said, “I love Daniel, but it’s so right. Royce Johnson’s Detective Brett Mahoney returns in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 7

Detective Brett Mahoney, played by Royce Johnson, reappeared in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 7. Mahoney previously featured throughout the original Netflix Daredevil series across three seasons. He also appeared in episodes of Jessica Jones and several episodes of The Punisher.

Karen Page sits in custody wearing an NYPD t-shirt, calling back the original Daredevil series opening sequence. Fisk personally visits Karen’s holding cell, seemingly encouraging her to contact Matt and draw him out. Matt Murdock returns to the courtroom as co-counsel alongside Kirsten McDuffie to defend Karen against vigilante charges.

Episode 7 delivered major developments across multiple storylines simultaneously. Bullseye prevented Buck Cashman’s assassination attempt on Governor Marge after Jessica Jones extracted intel from Mr. Charles. Heather Glenn slapped Karen during a psychological evaluation requested by corrupt District Attorney Hochberg. AVTF agents ambushed Matt outside the courthouse, leaving him with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2’s finale, “The Southern Cross,” premieres Tuesday, May 5, 2026, on Disney+, followed by The Punisher: One Last Kill special on May 12, 2026.
