Marvel Studios has confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 will feature a narrative time jump, placing the upcoming arc of Matt Murdock’s story approximately a certain duration after the events of the recently ended Season 2.

Daredevil: Born Again time jump reveals when Season 3 takes place
Speaking to ScreenRant, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, outlined the timeline for the series’ return in 2027. The executive confirmed that the story will not resume immediately following the Season 2 finale, which saw Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock incarcerated and Wilson Fisk exiled.
“There will be a small time jump, but it’s not too significant. It’s not like we’re jumping ahead five years or anything. We’re probably jumping ahead a year or so, kind of like the real-life distance between seasons,” Winderbaum said. “And yeah, Fisk’s exile is its own story. So it’s fun watching these two characters be in their own places in season three.”
The revelation means Murdock has spent roughly twelve months in prison when audiences reconnect with the character. Season 2 ended with the vigilante behind bars, paying the price for his actions both as Daredevil and as a lawyer who influenced cases through extrajudicial means. Winderbaum’s framing of the gap mirrors the wait audiences will endure between seasons.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 will adapt the comic storyline “The Devil in Cell Block D,” meaning Murdock will be squarely inside the prison system. The arc presents a big change for a character defined by his ability to move between the courtroom and the streets. The decision to publicly expose Murdock’s secret identity was not part of the initial blueprint.
Winderbaum explained that the choice happened as development progressed. “It came out of season two development. I don’t know that Dario went into season two knowing that it was going to end that way,” he said, referring to showrunner Dario Scardapane.
For now, Daredevil Born Again Season 3 promises a time jump that reshapes the board entirely.
