Actress Nicole Evans is joining Emmerdale as an “intriguing” new character.

The star, who has appeared in ITV drama The Bay and Netflix’s The Sandman, will be hitting our screens later this year, reports The Sun.
A source told the publication: “This is really exciting for Nicole. She’s playing a really intriguing character with a huge secret that will ruffle feathers in the village.”
They also tease that “residents should brace themselves” ahead of her character’s arrival.
Radio Times understands that Evans will appear in just a couple of episodes – but who is she connected to, and what impact will she have?

Earlier this year, producer Laura Shaw teased that there would be more Sugden and Tate family members heading to the eponymous village.
“At the heart of last year, I wanted to cement the families in our show,” Shaw revealed to Inside Soap.
“Everyone always talks about the Dingles, but I felt like we needed to build up some of the other families – that’s probably what I’m most proud of.”
She continued: “We brought Dawn and the kids in to bolster [Home Farm], and then we were missing the dad of the family, so we went mad and brought Graham back!”
“I’ve been trying to do the same with the Sugdens as well as the Tates.
“Obviously, Isabel [Hodgins, Victoria Sugden] is on maternity leave at the moment, but Sarah’s married Jacob – he’s taken the Sugden name – what I want to do over the course of the next few months is remind everyone that Sarah’s also a Sugden.
“There’s going to be a couple of arrivals to strengthen both the Tate and Sugden clans!”
Of course, since then, Casey Al-Shaqsy has joined the serial drama as the mysterious Serena Sugden, a distant cousin of Robert (Ryan Hawley).
Forthcoming scenes will see his partner Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) question her reasoning for coming to the Dales, amid her incessant questioning about their lives.
Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) will also suddenly remember where he recognises her from.
