As The Pitt cast and creatives ride high following their huge number of Emmy nominations, we have been hearing from the central players with their reactions, and some teases for the show’s upcoming third season.
The HBO Max medical drama scored 25 nominations in total, the most for any one show this year.
One of those nominated is Dr Robby star Noah Wyle, who told Deadline that the series “feels very much like a gift that keeps on giving.”
He added: “I feel very humbled by this and validated many times over. Today, I feel extremely gratified that the nominations were spread so far and wide across our casting. It really feels like it’s a testament to the collective achievement and contribution that everybody makes.”
Wyle was also asked whether Dr Robby would be able to find happiness, and while he didn’t “want to say too much about season 3”, he did add that “I think we’re climbing out of the pit slowly but surely”.
He continued: “I think Robbie and anybody who can identify with him will watch his journey and feel that we’re now finally in the kind of ascension. We’re moving up and out of where we’ve been.”
Wyle also said that “season 1 was about the doctor being the patient; season 2 is about doctors not being very good patients; season 3 is about doctors benefiting from being patients. We’re going to see that he’s begun the therapeutic road; it’s had a positive effect. It’s fragile, and it’s not without risk and vulnerability, but it’s at least there’s forward progress.”
When asked for anything else he could tease, Wyle added: “Up until now, we’ve plotted our show almost in real time when people are watching. We’ve written the shows eight months before we air, but we’ve written them to take place in the time and place in which they are being watched this season. We didn’t do that this season.
“What we’re depicting is Thursday, November 12, 2026 and it will be aired in January of 2027. So we will be talking about where we’ve just been for the first time, and not where we’re going.
“That was a decision made because there’s going to be a lot of anticipation and fear and preparation going into January and the execution of the Big Beautiful Bill that will have a lot of ramifications in Americans’ lives.
“We wanted to focus on what those last couple of months of the year are going to be like and what most people are going to have to do to prepare themselves for a very harsh reality in the next seven to eight years, to underscore the point of how desperate this particular moment in time is.”
Dr Abbot star Shawn Hatosy also reacted to his own nomination, telling Deadline that he was “incredibly honoured by this nomination, and I’m even more honoured to be standing alongside this cast.”
On season 3, he teased that “Abbot is living on borrowed time, and he’s just happy to still be here.”
He continued: “I really don’t know where they’re going to take the storyline, but I have really enjoyed these first two seasons and coming to this understanding of what his purpose is, even though when we first meet him, he’s kind of questioning that.
“He knows really what it is, and there’s tremendous comfort in understanding what you’re supposed to be doing, and, as I said, it’s borrowed time for him. I just find it to be so fun to explore; even in the worst moments, he can find the humour in it.
“And in this relationship between him and Robby, it’s packed with all kinds of emotions and turbulence, almost like a brotherly relationship. It’s like a sibling rivalry at times.”

Others to have reacted to their nominations include creator, writer and executive producer Dr Al-Hashimi star Sepideh Moafi, who said: “I don’t know if I have words for what this moment means for me. I’m so inspired by the character. I’m so grateful she exists in the larger ecosystem of Hollywood and television.
“You and I have had a lot of conversations about the visibility and representation that she brings, and it’s not just about her checking a box; it’s about who she is. She’s this woman who is so high-achieving, so successful, so so capable and competent and fierce and generous and loving and caring and empathic.”
Meanwhile, Patrick Ball, who plays Dr Langdon, said: “I give all the credit to Scott [R Gemmil], our showrunner, for writing me the most incredible part that anybody could ever dream of. I’ve been incredibly excited to be part of this project that has reached so many people, and that means so much to many.”
The Pitt season 3 is in production now, and is expected to arrive on HBO Max in January 2027.
