Legendary actor Hema Malini’s diamond jubilee will be celebrated through The Dream Girl’s Diamond Jubilee Concert in Mumbai on July 10. The show is in aid of CINTAA (Cine & TV Artiste’s Association) and is designed and directed by RJ Anirudh Chawla. The evening will bring together cinema, conversation and music. For the first time, Hema Malini’s journey will unfold live on stage — through her own voice, music of her films, memories of those who have been part of the era she represents. The show was officially announced on May 28 at CINTAA’s Mumbai office.

EXCLUSIVE: “Hema Malini’s career hasn’t had any downs,” says Padmini Kolhapure ahead of performing at The Dream Girl’s Diamond Jubilee Concert

Veteran actor and singer Padmini Kolhapure will be performing at the show. She is also the Senior Vice President of CINTAA. Sharing details about the show, she told Bollywood Hungama exclusively, “It’s going to be a total musical extravaganza. It’s going to be magical because Hema Malini ji’s diamond jubilee celebration is going to be celebrated in a massive way. We are all looking forward to it. Although I am a part of the show as I am going to be singing, I am so looking forward to this whole experience and what Hema ji is going to speak.”

Kolhapure said that her rapport with Malini has always been “great”. “Obviously, one doesn’t meet daily,” she said. “But whenever we met, we picked up from where we left. I have known her since I was 8-9 years old. I have also known her mother, sister, cousins, aunt, etc. I used to go to her house almost once a week. So, there are such lovely memories.”

The Prem Rog actor is amazed by Malini’s career. “Her career graph has been so phenomenal,” she said. “It has just been uphill. Normally actors, especially those who have worked for so many years, have some downfall and ups and downs. But in her case, at least I have not witnessed any downs per se. It has just been up, up and up. She has just excelled herself as a performer, dancer and actor.”

She added, “And she is just getting prettier and prettier by the day. Whenever I meet her, I say, ‘Please, I want to know what you are doing. How are you so beautiful at this age?’. But I guess she must be happy from within because that’s where beauty reflects.”

Apart from Kolhapure, other popular names like Sudesh Bhosale, Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, Vijayta Pandit, Suresh Wadkar, Anup Jalota, Anu Malik, Shabbir Kumar and Purnima Shrestha will be performing at the show.

Kolhapure shared that after getting to know about the show, people have been contacting her and asking how can they hold it in places like Delhi and Australia. “You can just imagine what her popularity has been and is even today,” she said.

Currently, Kolhapure is busy preparing for the show. “I have been talking to Anirudh every day, literally. If not 10 times, then five times for sure. I can see his excitement and passion for this show. It just makes me want to be a part of it,” she said.
