In the show, Karisma essays the role of Rita Brown, a disgraced alcoholic former police officer who teams up with her junior colleague to track down a serial killer targeting women across Kolkata. Speaking about her experience of watching the series after its release, Soni Razdan revealed that she has deliberately chosen not to binge-watch the show. Instead, she prefers to take in the story at a slower pace and appreciate its finer details. Soni shared, “I’m actually watching Brown right now, but I’m taking my time with it. These days, people tend to binge-watch shows in one go, but I feel Brown is the kind of series you should savour. Watching it as an audience member has been really interesting because I’m noticing so many things I couldn’t fully appreciate while shooting. The performances, the visuals, the way the story unfolds, everything has come together beautifully. What I love most is that the show doesn’t rush. It lets the characters and emotions breathe, which makes the experience even more engaging”.

The actress also opened up about the feedback she has received from her family since the series premiered. While most of her family members are yet to watch the show, she shared that her husband has already begun watching it and has been impressed by its distinct storytelling style. She went on to say, “My husband has recently started watching the show, and one of the first things he said was that it feels very different from what’s usually out there. He’s been enjoying the storytelling and the atmosphere of the series. The rest of my family hasn’t had a chance to watch it yet, so I’m looking forward to hearing what they think. What I like about Brown is that different people connect with different parts of it, so I’m curious to see what stands out for them.”

Reflecting on the positive audience response, Razdan believes that one of the biggest strengths of Brown lies in its emotionally layered characters, particularly Karisma Kapoor’s Rita Brown, whose flaws and vulnerabilities make her relatable. “I think people have really connected with the honesty of the characters, especially Rita Brown. She’s not a perfect hero, she’s flawed, vulnerable, and trying to deal with her own struggles, which makes her relatable. The show is also more than just a murder mystery. It spends time exploring relationships and emotions, so you become invested in the people as much as the investigation. And just when you think you’ve figured things out, the story surprises you. I think that balance of emotion and suspense has really worked with audiences”, Razdan added.

As Brown continues to attract viewers on ZEE5, the series has been receiving praise for its blend of suspense, emotional depth, and character-driven storytelling.
