“Fear has no cure.” Film Seekers has unveiled a teaser trailer for an indie horror film called The Remedy, the latest from filmmaker Alex Kahuam. It’s premiering at the 2026 SXSW London Film Festival this June and is still looking for distribution. “I’m beyond excited to give horror fans a first look at the teaser for The Remedy, a genre film that blends psychological tension and supernatural eeriness,” Kahuam states about this film. A troubled young man is the caregiver for both his terminally-ill mother and his mentally-ill sister. When he tries a desperate attempt to save his mom, he unleashes a supernatural entity that feeds on human flesh. Starring Timothy Granaderos (from “13 Reasons Why”) as Jason, with a cast including London Thor, Chris Mulkey, Jenny O’Hara, Dana Sparks, and legendary character actor Doug Jones. This teaser is barely 30 seconds and only has a quick glimpse at footage. But it’s looks especially frightening and gets crazy once the entity appears! Maybe ancient herbal remedies aren’t okay for sick people? Who knows…

Timothy Granaderos stars as Jason, a devoted son caring for his ill mother, Maria. Exhausted, isolated, sleep-deprived, he begins to suffer from vivid nightmares of a monstrous entity devouring his mother. As his grip on reality loosens, the horrors of his dreams begin to seep into his waking life. Meanwhile, Jason’s estranged sister Rachel, released from psychiatric care, becomes convinced an unseen evil has taken root in their home. Turning to forbidden spiritual practices for protection, she finds herself at odds with Jason, who dismisses her warnings as delusion. When Jason resorts to an obscure, ancient remedy in a desperate attempt to heal Maria, the results are miraculous & deeply unsettling. As her health begins to improve, disturbing occurrences escalate around them, hinting that something unnatural may have been unleashed. As paranoia, family tensions, and supernatural forces converge, he’s drawn into a terrifying descent. With no one left to trust, he must face the growing evil within the house–and within himself–before it’s too late.
The Remedy is directed by the indie genre filmmaker Alex Kahuam, director of the films Forgiveness and Failure! previously, as well as many other shorts. The screenplay is written by Daniel Kuhlman. Produced by Alex Kahuam, Daniel Kuhlman, Roberta Sparta. The film is premiering at the SXSW London Film Festival coming up this summer. No other release dates have been set yet – stay tuned.
