Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Heartstopper Forever, a feature-length special which will conclude the rollercoaster love story between Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor).

Based on the graphic novels by Alice Oseman, this live-action adaptation kicked off in 2022 and quickly became a global phenomenon, launching the careers of its young stars into the stratosphere.
The main plot follows the ups and downs of Charlie and Nick’s romance, balancing the difficulty of coming out, school bullies and mental health issues, with heartwarming moments, such as parties, school trips and cosy film nights.
Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), William Gao (Tao), Yasmin Finney (Elle) also star, with fans just as eager to know whether their characters will be together forever, or move on apart.
Those wishing to be prepared will be able to read Heartstopper’s sixth and final volume two weeks before Heartstopper Forever lands on Netflix (both of which are written by Oseman and are expected to be consistent with one another).
Today, Netflix gave us our first glimpse at what to expect with the Heartstopper Forever trailer. Watch here, and mark your calendars for its release date on Friday 17 July 2026:

The farewell film makes one notable cast change, with Nick’s supportive mum, Sarah, set to be played by Motherland and Star City icon Anna Maxwell Martin, who takes over for Academy Award winner Olivia Colman.
Colman appeared in the first two seasons of the show, but missed out on the third due to a scheduling conflict. Mission: Impossible and Marvel star Hayley Atwell stepped in for season 3, playing the sister of Colman’s character and Nick’s rather cool aunt, Diane.
The synopsis for Heartstopper Forever, courtesy of Netflix, reads: “Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet.
“Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?”
