After Big Mistakes star Jack Innanen threw his own hat into the ring on social media for a role in Heated Rivalry season 2, it has now been reported that the actor won’t be able to appear due to scheduling conflicts.

Innanen, who also had a recent role in Adults on FX, has petitioned on social media to play Troy Barrett, Wyatt Hayes or one of the other new characters who are due to be appearing in a future season of hit hockey romance drama, based on Rachel Reid’s books.
In April, Innanen revealed he had had “conversations” about Heated Rivalry season 2, and now Entertainment Weekly has heard from “a source close to production” that Innanen was offered a starring role.
However, the publication has also reported that he was unable to accept this role, due to production conflicts, meaning he won’t be able to appear in the upcoming season.

While Entertainment Weekly noted that no further specifics have been confirmed at this time, it did suggest that production might be taking place at the same time as Big Mistakes season 2, after that show was renewed last month.
The two roles that Innanen had been suggested for online are Troy Barrett, a trade for Ilya’s new team the Ottawa Centaurs, and Wyatt Hayes, another prominent hockey player who previously played with Troy on the Toronto Guardians team.
Earlier this year, Heated Rivalry show creator Jacob Tierney revealed that cameras are set to roll in August, meaning the show will return sometime in 2027.

Meanwhile, at the start of the year, Scott Hunter star François Arnaud teased that Tierney has suggested a spin-off could be on the way, based on his character.
“I know there’s a lot of conversations around many possible iterations of that,” he said when asked about his Scott’s future on Andy Cohen Live.
“I’m hearing all sorts of things. There’s potential a side project that would focus on Scott but I don’t know what that would look like either. I’ve read the books, and in the books Scott buys this sports bar that Kip goes to.”
