It’s a long way from her glitzy LA life but Elle Woods is trying her hardest to fit into Seattle in the new trailer for Prime Video’s Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle.

The trailer sees Lexi Minetree take centre stage as Elle Woods, first enjoying her life in 1995 Bel-Air with a life surrounded by shopping, friends, convertible cars and pool parties. “I’m so lucky to have this life, I wouldn’t change a thing,” she says as she addresses all her friends at a lavish party.
But the rug is pulled out from under her when one day, as she sunbathes in her garden, her parents tell her that they’re all moving to Seattle. In disbelief, we then see Elle navigate her first day at high school – and it’s clear she’s a fish out of water.

She tries to dress similarly to those around her, attempts to make friends by being her naturally bubbly self and gets called out for being a “poser”.
But will Elle crack the code and manage to make friends? As a scandal erupts throughout the school and students are searching for answers, it becomes clear that Elle could be a lot more useful than everyone had previously thought.

Elle sees Laura Kittrell (Insecure) take the helm as creator and showrunner, with the series mapping out what life was like for Elle before we met her in the original 2001 comedy film and subsequently, the 2003 sequel.
The series description reads: “Season one of Elle follows Elle Woods before she was a fish-out-of-water at Harvard. We meet her in 1995 as a fish in the tumultuous waters of high school where she encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance, and questionable fashion choices.
“Through it all, Elle uses her family as a touchstone, and forms an even tighter bond to her mother, proving that they can get through anything life throws their way as long as they have each other. With each challenge she faces, Elle grows closer to the Elle Woods we know and love today.”
