Old Dog, New Tricks renewed for Season 2 and 3 at Netflix
Netflix has renewed Old Dog, New Tricks for both a second and third season, extending the run of the Spanish comedy series. The decision comes at a time when Season 2 has already entered production, as per What’s on Netflix.
The series launched globally on October 3, 2025. Its early reception prompted a swift response, with Netflix Spain officially announcing Season 2 on October 21, 2025, just 18 days after release. Now, the streamer has additionally renewed the show for a third season.
Led by Luis Zahera and Lucía Caraballo, the series centers on Antón, a rural veterinarian whose traditional practice begins to decline, forcing him into an unfamiliar professional environment. He ends up working with his niece Uxía, who runs a modern pet-focused business. The series has demonstrated solid global reach, spending three weeks in Netflix’s Top 10 rankings and appearing in daily charts across 52 countries. Its strongest performance came in Spain, where it remained on the charts for 48 days.
Season 2 moves the story to Santiago de Compostela, where a new urban pet shop offers Antón a fresh start. His sense of stability is tested when Uxía becomes more involved in the business. Together with a new manager, they introduce a pet burial service that brings unexpected success, while also revealing complications.
For the upcoming season, García León returns as writer alongside Teresa Bellón and César F. Calvillo. Direction will be handled by Laura M. Campos and Manu Gómez. Zahera and Caraballo reprise their roles, with Álvaro Mel joining the cast as a new addition.
