Hrithik Roshan has doubled down on his appreciation for Dhurandhar, praising the film’s cast and technical team even as conversations continue around his earlier remark acknowledging that he does not fully agree with the film’s political stance.

On December 11, the actor took to X to share what he described as lingering admiration for the film. “Still can’t get DHURANDHAR out of my mind,” he wrote while applauding director Aditya Dhar and the ensemble cast. Hrithik highlighted Ranveer Singh’s shift from “silent to fierce”, called Akshaye Khanna his longtime favourite, and lauded R. Madhavan for bringing “grace, strength and dignity” to the screen. He also singled out Rakesh Bedi’s performance as “phenomenal,” adding that the makeup and prosthetics team deserved special recognition. “I can’t wait for part 2!!!” he wrote.

However, the praise arrived a day after his Instagram story sparked debate. In that post, Hrithik described Dhurandhar as an example of filmmaking that “pulls you into a vortex” and commended its storytelling, but also addressed the commentary surrounding its political messaging. The actor noted that he “may disagree with the politics of it” and reflected on the “responsibilities filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world.” Even with those reservations, he wrote that he “loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema.”

The two statements—one focused on craft, the other acknowledging ideological differences—triggered mixed reactions online. While a large section of fans welcomed his honest and layered take on the film, a few questioned the shift in tone.

Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, released on December 5 and features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Set against covert operations inspired by real geopolitical events, the film marks the first chapter of a two-part series, with Dhurandhar Part 2 slated to arrive on March 19, 2026.
