For the last 20 years, FirstShowing has provided a clean, simple, easy-to-follow Release Schedule listing complete movie releases every opening weekend. In addition to this page, FS is ecstatic to launch a brand new schedule page –listing every major film festival around the world and other important film events (e.g. Oscars, BAFTAs, CinemaCon, etc). FirstShowing is a vital destination for movie updates & information. Our goal with this Film Events Schedule is to provide the same convenience and easy-of-use as our regular film Release Schedule, but for events in the cinema industry across all 12 months of the year. The page lists most major film festivals of all kinds from around the US and the entire planet (Rotterdam, Edinburgh, Sitges, Busan, Tokyo, Marrakesh, Melbourne, Zurich, etc). There are also key listings for prestigious awards nights including the Film Independent Spirit Awards, Actor Awards, Oscars, and so on. Along with industry events like CinemaCon, CineEurope, EFM/AFM, and so on. This schedule page will be updated with more additions when necessary as this is our very first version and initial launch in 2026. It’s designed for the film industry, but it’s also a website anyone can use & interact with to learn more about upcoming movie events each year.

Celebrating 20 years on the web, our goal is to keep everyone informed and enthusiastic about upcoming movies and when they’ll be showing in theaters. In addition, FirstShowing is a renowned destination for film festival coverage worldwide, with annual updates from Sundance, Cannes, Venice, TIFF, Telluride, Sitges, Karlovy Vary, and plenty of other small festivals. It has been in the cards for a long time to finally present a schedule that also keeps movie lovers informed about upcoming festivals. Which is why we’re launching this events schedule. This page will also be updated and launched each year for additional planning for the next year ahead. However, most festivals and events don’t confirm their final dates that far advance – many don’t announce the final date within a year before the event. We will continue to monitor, update, and revise the Film Events page to verify all these dates are accurate. If you notice any incorrect dates or a major event is missing, please contact us and we will update. Above all, we want this schedule to be useful and informative. Perhaps you’ll discover an exciting new festival to attend somewhere around the world. There are so many.
