Taking to Instagram Stories on June 12, Karisma shared a simple yet emotional message against a black background that read, “12/6/2025 Sunjay in our hearts forever,” accompanied by heart emojis. The post marked a rare public remembrance of the businessman, who passed away in England last year at the age of 53.

Karisma and Sunjay’s relationship had long remained in the spotlight. The actress tied the knot with the industrialist on September 29, 2003, in a grand Sikh wedding ceremony held at the Kapoor family’s Krishna Raj Bungalow in Mumbai. The couple welcomed their daughter Samaira on March 11, 2005, followed by son Kiaan on March 12, 2010.

However, after years of marriage, the two faced a highly publicized separation. They filed for divorce proceedings in 2014, and following a prolonged legal battle, their divorce was finalized in 2016. Despite the difficult split, Karisma and Sunjay reportedly maintained cordial relations when it came to co-parenting their children. Samaira and Kiaan were often seen spending time with their father over the years.

A year after his divorce from Karisma, Sunjay married model and entrepreneur Priya Sachdev in 2017. The couple later welcomed a son, Azarias.

Sunjay’s sudden demise on June 12, 2025, shocked both the business and entertainment worlds. The billionaire businessman collapsed during a polo match in England. Initial reports suggested that he may have accidentally swallowed a bee moments before suffering a medical emergency. Subsequent reports stated that he died due to natural causes linked to underlying heart-related conditions.

Meanwhile, the Kapur family continues to remain embroiled in a legal dispute over Sunjay’s reported ₹30,000 crore estate. Karisma’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, have challenged a will presented by Priya Sachdev Kapur, which allegedly grants control of the majority of the assets to Priya and her side of the family.
