Alia Bhatt has spoken candidly about motherhood, parenting choices and balancing a successful acting career while raising daughter Raha. In a recent interaction with Femina, the actress shared how becoming a mother has reshaped her priorities, while also reinforcing her passion for work and storytelling.

Alia Bhatt opens up on motherhood, work-life balance and raising Raha: “I want to be a hands-on mom”

Alia, who welcomed Raha in November 2022 with husband Ranbir Kapoor, said she wants to be fully present during her daughter’s early years while continuing to pursue her professional ambitions. Speaking about her approach to parenting, she said, “I want to be a hands-on mom. I want to experience these amazing years of her life. But I also want her to know that her mother is somebody who’s very passionate about her work and storytelling and movies”.

The actress further explained that she hopes Raha grows up seeing a healthy balance between family and career. She said, “I want her to see me want to work and want to go to work. But I want to be able to balance it out without feeling too exhausted to be giving either or. Raha is my top priority because she’s my child. But I am also a priority.”

Alia also revealed that she has been reading a parenting book that has offered her a meaningful perspective on self-care and parenthood. She shared, “I’ve been reading this beautiful book. It’s called The Parent’s Tao Te Ching: Ancient Advice for Modern Parents and it’s a reinterpreted version of the Tao Te Ching [an ancient Chinese text that forms the foundation of Taoist wisdom]. It’s got these beautiful verses about how parents actually just need to take care of themselves”.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at their Mumbai residence in April 2022 after years of dating. Later that year, the couple welcomed their daughter Raha, whose public appearances have often drawn attention from fans and the media. Since becoming parents, both actors have occasionally spoken about how the experience has changed their lives.

On the professional front, Alia has an exciting slate of upcoming projects. She will next be seen in Alpha, a part of Yash Raj Films’ spy universe. The film also stars Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and an ensemble cast, with Alia playing the role of a spy. Alpha is scheduled to release on July 10.

She also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, where she reunites with husband Ranbir Kapoor and Raazi co-star Vicky Kaushal. The much-awaited film is expected to release on January 21, 2027.

With a packed professional calendar and a clear focus on family, Alia Bhatt continues to navigate both worlds on her own terms.
