The fourth and fifth entries in the Insidious franchise are heading to HBO Max very soon. Doubling as Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut, the film turned out to be a financial success while also continuing the franchise’s strong legacy.

Insidious: The Red Door to stream on HBO Max Very Soon
Insidious: The Red Door will begin streaming on HBO Max from Monday, May 4, 2026, per WB Discovery’s schedule. This is in addition to the third film, Insidious: The Last Key, which also arrives on the platform on May 1, 2026.
The film marks the final chapter in Josh Lambert’s family. It takes place nine years after the events in Insidious: Chapter 2. Josh is now estranged from his son, Dalton, who heads off to college. There, Dalton unknowingly reopens the gateway to The Further after drawing a picture of its red door. Josh later returns to The Further to save his son from the monster that had haunted him for decades.
Leigh Whannell (franchise’s creator) and Scott Teems wrote Insidious: The Red Door. Meanwhile, James Wan, who directed the first two Insidious films, served as a co-producer. He did so alongside Whannell, Jason Blum, and Oren Peli. Blum produced it under his production company, Blumhouse Productions, LLC.
The film’s cast includes Patrick Wilson as Josh, Ty Simpkins as Dalton, Rose Byrne as Renai, Sinclair Daniel as Chris, Lin Shaye as Elise, Hiam Abbass as Professor Armagan, Whannell as Specs, and Angus Sampson as Tucker, among others.
Released on July 7, 2023, Insidious: The Red Door received a divisive reception. While the critics’ score averages at 39%, the audience score sits at a significantly higher score of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes. This stronger audience reception helped the film gross $189 million. Given its reported $16 million budget, it is safe to say that the film was highly profitable.
A fifth film, Insidious: Out of the Further, starring The Haunting of Bly Manor’s Amelia Eve, will arrive in theaters on August 21, 2026. Its trailer was released earlier this month.
