Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming directorial Main Vaapas Aaunga is generating positive buzz ahead of its theatrical release. The film recently hosted a special screening for members of the entertainment industry, where it received encouraging reactions from filmmaker Kabir Khan, singer Sunidhi Chauhan, content creator and influencer Aaliyah Kashyap, among others.

Set in Imtiaz Ali’s signature world of love, longing and human relationships, Main Vaapas Aaunga stars Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina in pivotal roles. While the makers have largely kept the plot under wraps, early reactions suggest that the film blends emotional storytelling with themes that resonate with contemporary audiences.

Singer Sunidhi Chauhan, who attended the screening, spoke about the expectations that come with an Imtiaz Ali film and the unique experience his storytelling often offers. “Jab aap Imtiaz Ali ki film dekhne aate hai tab expectation bhi hoti hai aur aap jaante hai ki aao kuchh naya experience karne wale ho” (When you come to watch an Imtiaz Ali film, there are expectations, and you know that you are about to experience something new), she said, before adding, “All I can say is its beautiful.”

Filmmaker Kabir Khan also shared his thoughts on the film, praising both its emotional impact and thematic relevance. “It’s a very moving film”, he said, adding, “It’s still very relevant because of the world that we’re living in today,” and describing it as “such a multilayered film.”

Aaliyah Kashyap, who watched the film for the second time, echoed similar sentiments and highlighted its emotional effect and music. “This is my second time watching it, and it hit just as hard”, she said, further adding, “It’s a very important movie” and “the music is incredible.”

The reactions from the screening have added to the anticipation surrounding the film, particularly among audiences familiar with Imtiaz Ali’s storytelling style. Known for films that explore themes of identity, relationships and self-discovery, the filmmaker appears to be returning with another emotionally driven narrative.

Produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, along with Mohit Choudhary and Shibasish Sarkar of Window Seat Films, Main Vaapas Aaunga is slated for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026. The film’s music has been released under the Tips Music label.
