Director Mohit Suri marked 13 years of Aashiqui 2 on April 27, 2026, by sharing a nostalgic post on social media, revisiting one of the most loved romantic dramas of the last decade. The filmmaker posted rare behind-the-scenes photographs from the sets of the 2013 blockbuster and reflected on the emotional journey of making the film.

In his caption, Mohit wrote, “Celebrating 13 years of Aashiqui 2. Some films don’t just get made… they make you. Every moment on set… every silence, every tear, every note of music… felt like something we were living, not just creating.”

He further added that while years have passed, the memories and emotions linked to the film still remain strong. “All I feel today is gratitude… for the love this film has received, and for the way it continues to find people… even now. Some love stories don’t end. They just keep playing… on a loop, somewhere in the heart.”

The heartfelt post drew warm reactions from fans and members of the cast. Lead actress Shraddha Kapoor, whose career saw a major breakthrough with the film, commented, “Some filmmakers don’t just make films… they make careers! @mohitsuri every year my gratitude for you only grows.”

Celebrity hair and makeup artist Shaan Muttathil, who was associated with the film, also shared his memories in the comments section. He wrote, “This movie is for life! The experience and even today every one in Dubai when I say I worked on Aashiqui 2 ppl go crazy. Thank u Mohit for the best best experience.”

Several fans also used the occasion to request a reunion between Mohit Suri, Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, who played the lead pair in the film.

Released in 2013, Aashiqui 2 became a major box office success and a cultural phenomenon, especially for its music album featuring songs like ‘Tum Hi Ho,’ ‘Sun Raha Hai Na Tu,’ and ‘Chahun Main Ya Naa’. The film is often credited with changing the careers of both Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, who found mainstream success after its release.

Interestingly, speculation about a possible theatrical re-release surfaced just days before the anniversary, though the makers have not yet officially confirmed it.

Speaking earlier to Variety India, Mohit Suri had explained why he never tried to recreate the same pairing again. “I was trying not to repeat the magic because it never is the same. For me, Aashiqui, besides the sequel part of it, everything else was too special,” he said.
