Aamir Khan, Junaid Khan, Sai Pallavi, director Sunil Pandey, music director Ram Sampath, producer Aparna Purohit and others attended an event named ‘Ek Din Ki Mehfil’ held as part of the promotions for Ek Din in Mumbai. The event was highly memorable for several reasons, from the storytellers narrating lovely anecdotes about love and heartbreak to three lucky winners singing songs from the film. Sai Pallavi made her first major appearance before the Mumbai media. Lastly, Aamir Khan performed the title song and it was loved by the audience.

After his live performance, Aamir Khan praised Sai Pallavi. He said, “Sai has done such an amazing job. You’ll get absolutely blown away by her performance. Main apne dil pe haath rakh ke keh sakta hoon that for me, Sai is the best actress we have in the country tod

He then raised laughs, “Aur Junaid ne bhi theek thaak kiya hai! He’s my son and so, I can’t say much.”

Sai Pallavi was given the mic to speak. She began by saying, “I didn’t know I had to speak (laughs). I thought bas mehfil ya kuch hoga. I would have learned something in Hindi. Firstly, thank you so much. Mujhe Hindi aisa hi aata hai. ‘Aata’ aur ‘aati’ mein gadbad hoga (smiles). This evening was great. When I look back at my journey in the industry, I feel happy that whatever I have done, it has brought me to this room full of people who are so talented. Aamir sir is crazy enough to be emotional in public. But sometimes, I wish the lights are dim so that I could be more emotional.”

Sai Pallavi pointed at the storytellers and remarked, “You guys are such beautiful narrators. I could visualize your story in front of my eyes. Thank you so much for whatever has led you here. God bless you and may you continue to influence more lives and touch our souls.”

She then looked at the producer and said, “Thank you, Aamir sir, for putting me in a space like this and making me a part of this movie where I am able to enjoy this and feel so much love. Everyime they (the storytellers) spoke about love, I could see your face glow. That is so beautiful.”

Sai added, “This is going to be my first Hindi film. Hence, I am quite nervous. But thank you to the whole team. Junaid was a beautiful co-star; an obedient child, actually (laughs)!”

She ended by saying, “I didn’t prepare my speech. Hence, mujhe maaf kijiye. Lekin andar bahut saara pyaar hai aap sab ke liye. To all the paps, whenever you call my name, I feel like I am a big deal. Thank you for all that noise out there (smiles).”

Junaid Khan kept his speech brief and joked, “At one point, Aparna wanted me to sing here today. I got very excited. But they told Papa, and then they realized it’s a very bad idea! Hence, you all won’t be tortured today (laughs).”

Ek Din releases in cinemas on May 1.
