“When the curtain falls, the truth is deadlier than the fiction.” Freestyle Digital Media has revealed the full official trailer for a suspense movie titled The Third Degree, a mystery thriller set in a creaky, centuries-old London theater. Made by filmmaker Ryan Little, this film is being released directly to VOD in July this summer. Four young actors in London rehearse an upcoming West End play when their secret affairs with one another all become revealed. In twist after twist, they try to outwit each other which soon spirals into murderous consequences. The Third Degree is a razor-sharp psychological thriller showing the terrifyingly small distance between performance and reality. The director explains that it’s “a psychological puzzle box wrapped in a classic murder mystery. It explores the dark side of ambition when the characters they create refuse to stay on the page. It is a story about control, manipulation, and the deadly consequences of blurring art with real life.” Starring James Barrington, Eric Geynes, Tom Hutch, and Nicola Posener. This actually looks like an intriguing little mystery, with plenty of criss-crossing revelations as the plot plays out.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Ryan Little’s film The Third Degree, direct from YouTube:

Four actors rehearse a London play as secrets and rivalries surface, spiraling into deadly twists where reality blurs. William has written and is directing a murder mystery steeped in Hitchcockian dread and 1920s film noir. To bring it to life, he’s gathered his former classmates from an English Dramatic Academy for a night of rehearsals inside a creaky, centuries-old London theater. The script is tightly controlled. The cast is hand-picked. What happens next is anything but. As the night wears on, hidden affairs, buried betrayals, and dangerous ambitions crack the surface. William rewrites scenes on the fly, manipulating his fellow actors’ egos and desires as deftly as he manipulates the characters on the page. Flashbacks to 1922 blur the boundaries between then & now, between fiction & something far more sinister. What began as a rehearsal becomes a trap. In twist after twist, the actors try to outwit each other — until the violence stops being theatrical. By the final act, no one is certain who is performing and who’s in genuine danger.
The Third Degree is directed by Canadian filmmaker Ryan Little, director of the films Out of Step, Saints and Soldiers, Love Surreal, House of Fears, Forever Strong, Age of the Dragons, War Pigs, A Fiancé for Christmas previously. The screenplay is written by McKay Daines. Produced by McKay Daines and Steven A. Lee. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Freestyle Digital Media debuts Little’s The Third Degree film direct-to-VOD starting July 10th, 2026 coming up soon. Who’s interested?
