Bridget Jones favourite Sally Phillips is a salon owner with exceptional sleuthing skills in upcoming BBC drama The Hairdresser Mysteries.

Phillips leads the cast of the “nostalgic crime drama with an upbeat 1970s spirit” as Lily Petal, a hairdresser who leaves city life behind to open a salon in a picturesque village, only to find herself drawn into a string of local mysteries.
Also joining her is former Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan, who plays Lily’s “bright and analytical” salon assistant and investigative sidekick, Clary Coombs.
“Everyone tells their hairdresser everything and soon she becomes the hub of her new village’s secrets and revelations,” reads the synopsis.
“Using her own brand of uncannily developed hairdressing intuitive, empathy and understanding, Lily begins to solve the mysteries of the village.”

Also starring alongside Phillips and Jordan is Ben Castle-Gibb (You) as PC Adam Watson, “an eager young copper in the local village who falls head-over-heels” for Clary, and Sunetra Sarker (Ackley Bridge) as Wincey Evans, the village’s resident gossip.
Further cast members include Clive Rowe (The Addams Family UK Tour) as Lonnie, “the flamboyant manager of the local charity shop”, and Guy Henry (Holby City) as Race Runard, an eccentric antiques dealer with a fondness for rare teacup and saucer sets.

The Hairdresser Mysteries is coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in July.
