“Finish him!!” It’s almost time!! WB has revealed another fun promo trailer for Mortal Kombat II (MK2), based on the popular video platform fighting game series, hitting theaters this May. LFG!! This is a follow-up to the most recent live-action Mortal Kombat movie from 2021. And it looks like a huge improvement. It’s going to kick ass!! Fan fave champions—joined by the action superstar Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders. “We had up the ante on every aspect,” says the actor playing Shao Kahn. Karl Urban stars as Johnny Cage (from his own movie Uncaged Fury), and joined by Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, and Damon Herriman, with Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion. This trailer features the classic MK song (by The Immortal) going through all of the various fighters that appear in this movie. I dig how much they’re leaning into the video game aesthetics and going all out (it’s R-rated!!) with the fights.
Here’s the extra LFG trailer (+ posters) for Simon McQuoid’s sequel Mortal Kombat II, from YouTube:

From New Line Cinema comes the latest high-stakes installment in the blockbuster video game franchise in all its brutal glory, Mortal Kombat II. This time, the fan favorite champions—now joined by Johnny Cage himself—are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of Earthrealm & its defenders. Mortal Kombat II, also known as Mortal Kombat 2 or MK2, is once again directed by Australian filmmaker Simon McQuoid, his second movie following Mortal Kombat and many years working in the video game industry (on Call of Duty & Playstation ads, etc). The screenplay is written by Jeremy Slater. Based on the successful video game series originally created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Produced by Todd Garner, Toby Emmerich, Simon McQuoid, E. Bennett Walsh, and James Wan. Warner Bros will release McQuoid’s Mortal Kombat II sequel in theaters nationwide starting May 8th, 2026 this summer. Is everyone still excited to watch this sequel?
