Actor Peter Heppelthwaite has died at the age of 59, it has been confirmed.

The star was best known for his roles in EastEnders and Only Fools and Horses spin-off The Green Green Grass.
His death was announced by his agent, Apollo Artist Management, who described him as “a hugely gifted actor, director, teacher and mentor” in a statement shared on social media.
The statement read: “We are heartbroken to share the sad news that our wonderful client and friend, Peter Heppelthwaite, passed away yesterday.
“Peter was a hugely gifted actor, director, teacher and mentor, with a warmth and generosity that reached far beyond the work itself.”
The statement continued: “He brought humour, heart and complete commitment to everything he did, and he had that rare ability to make people feel seen, supported and better for having known him.
“His career took him across television, theatre and film, but his impact was much bigger than a list of credits. Peter gave so much to other performers, especially young actors finding their confidence and their voice.”
“He cared deeply, worked tirelessly, and left a mark on everyone lucky enough to cross his path. We feel incredibly proud to have represented him. Our thoughts and love are with Peter’s family, friends, students, colleagues and all who loved him.
“Rest peacefully, Pete. You will be very deeply missed.”
After graduating from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in 1999, Heppelthwaite landed his first TV role in Two Point Four Children, before going on to appear in popular series such as London’s Burning, The Bill, My Family and The Office.
However, he remains best known for his parts as farm ploughman Jed in The Green Green Grass, which followed Boycie and Marlene as they left Peckham behind for a new life on a farm, and as trader Linal in EastEnders.
The actor also appeared on stage in West End productions such as Sunset Boulevard and Miss Saignon.

“Peter’s passion for the performing arts and his unwavering dedication to our students helped create a truly special community,” the drama school wrote on Instagram following the tragic news of the actor’s passing.
“Through his vision, encouragement, and belief in every young person and adult who walked through our doors, he inspired countless students to grow in confidence, creativity, and self-expression,” the statement continued.
“Peter was more than a founder; he was a mentor, supporter, and friend to so many. His impact on the lives of our students, staff, and families will be felt for many years to come.”
