Bret Easton Ellis’ acclaimed novel, The Shards, is being adapted for FX and Disney+ – and in great news for fans of the book, we finally have a release date for the series.

Promising a “summer of suspense, seduction and obsession”, The Shards will land on 6 August 2026 on the streaming giant in the UK.
The story takes place in 1980 Los Angeles, and follows privileged teen students at an elite prep school, who navigate identity, sex, jealousy and the dangers lurking within American adolescence.
At the centre of the story is Bret (played by Igby Rigney), who’s an aspiring writer, and a magnetic new student, Robert Mallory (Homer Gere).
