*Warning: This article contains spoilers for Every Year After season 1.*

The first season of Every Year After kicks off with the sad loss of their Sue (Elisha Cuthbert) and her sons coming together to plan her memorial service. In the process, they invite Percy (Sadie Soverall), who hasn’t been back to Barry’s Bay for a number of years – and has some unfinished business with her first love, Sam (Matt Cornett).
Throughout the first season of Every Year After, we see how the pair try to get over painful memories of the past, instead choosing to reminisce on the good times and try to remain friends. But alas, there’s only so long you can keep that simmering tension down and the pair eventually confess their feelings for one another.
With the question of what Percy did lingering over the entire season, it becomes clear that it’s all too much for Sam to forgive her for, with the status of their relationship ever murky by the end of the eighth episode. But one thing’s for certain – Charlie (Michael Bradway) isn’t in a good place and as the credits roll, his fate hangs in the balance.
But will there be a second season of Every Year After? Read on for everything we know so far.
Will there be an Every Year After season 2?

As of now, Prime Video have not renewed Every Year After for a second season.
But we’d hazard a guess by the very fact that season 1 ended on such a major cliffhanger and the fact that the book series it’s based on is hugely popular, that we’d be getting more episodes of the TV show.
Showrunner Amy B Harris has also stated that she has a five-season arc in mind for the Prime Video series, telling Entertainment Weekly: “I see five seasons. Obviously, there’s another book that’s connected to Barry’s Bay that I think will be a very exciting blueprint for us for a potential season 2.”
Every Year After season 2 release date speculation
Seeing as Every Year After hasn’t actually been renewed for a second season, it’s hard to assess just when a potential second instalment could be landing on screens.
If the show were to be renewed pretty soon, we’d imagine that it wouldn’t be too much of a wait between seasons. The first season of Every Year After was filmed from June to September 2025 and was then released on Prime Video on 10 June 2026. So, if that green light comes soon and production kicks off swiftly, we could be looking at a 2027/2028 release.
Every Year After season 2 cast speculation

We’d imagine that everyone from the season 1 cast would be returning for a second season of Every Year After. Saying that, the fate of Charlie (Michael Bradway) doesn’t look all that certain so we can only keep our fingers crossed that he’ll remain.
It seems likely due to the fact that showrunner Harris has intimated that the “blueprint” for season 2 may be Carley Fortune’s One Golden Summer, which is seen as a companion sequel to Every Summer After, which the TV series is based on. The main difference is that One Golden Summer centres on Charlie’s own love story and so, we would hope he would be returning for that.
One person that we likely won’t be seeing (unless it’s in flashbacks like season 1) is Sue (Elisha Cuthbert), Sam and Charlie’s mother who passed away. The cast we’d expect to see in season 2 are as follows.
- Sadie Soverall as Percy
- Matt Cornett as Sam
- Aurora Perrineau as Chantal
- Abigail Cowen as Delilah
- Michael Bradway as Charlie
- Joseph Chiu as Jordie
- Juliette Hawk as Young Percy
- Blue Clarke as Young Sam
What could happen in a potential Every Year After season 2?

As previously mentioned, it’s been hinted that Charlie’s story could take centre stage in a potential second season.
Seeing as he and Delilah (Abigail Cowen) were having their own passionate affair, we would’ve expected that to be blossoming with Delilah being newly single. But as we saw in the final episode of season 1, the pair were no longer together it seemed. It’s certain that a season 2 would definitely have to pick back up from Charlie’s heart attack in the office, when he spied a picture of a younger him, Sam and Percy on his boss’s wall.
Will Charlie be alright and what about the picture spurred Charlie’s physical reaction?
As for the other characters, Percy is back in Barry’s Bay and is now managing Sue’s tavern, after being left it in her will. Together with Delilah, it looks as though the family restaurant could go from strength to strength but what will Sam think? And will he ever forgive Percy?
There’s certainly plenty to pick back up from for a second season and teasing even more excitement, showrunner Harris told Entertainment Weekly: “We have these six main characters, and I think we’ll be adding characters as the seasons go on.
“I really see this as a series, and it’s why we built it the way we did so that we can come back and explore a lot more romance. We have lots more to say both about Percy and Sam’s love story, but also about these other characters who hopefully people will come to love as much as they do Percy and Sam.”
