The Wrong Girls has set its theatrical release date for August 14, 2026, alongside a newly released teaser. The official account posted, “THE WRONG GIRLS. Written and directed by Dylan Meyer. Starring Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat.” The announcement also stated, “Only in theaters August 14,” confirming the film’s exclusive theatrical rollout.

Dylan Meyermakes her directorial debut with the upcoming film and co-writes the script withKristen Stewart. Additionally, the project presents a stoner comedy and stars Stewart alongsideAlia Shawkatin leading roles. The cast also featuresSeth Rogen,LaKeith Stanfield,Kumail Nanjiani, Zack Fox, and Tony Hale, further expanding its ensemble lineup.
Meanwhile, production began in Los Angeles in February 2025, with Todd Banhazl serving as cinematographer. In addition, singer-songwriter Ty Segall composed the film’s music and contributed to its creative direction. Furthermore, the production featured a live performance from punk band Mannequin Pussy during filming at a closed Los Angeles venue, adding to its distinctive production elements.
Stewart previously described the project as a “stoner girl comedy” during development discussions in 2023 (via Indie Wire). The film is produced by companies including Nevermind Pictures and Point Grey Pictures. Additional production support comes from Savage Road Productions and Curious Gremlin, with several executive producers attached.
Neon will distribute the film in the United States, thereby confirming a wide theatrical release. Meanwhile, casting additions including Seth Rogen and LaKeith Stanfield were announced in February 2025. Additionally, the teaser release aligns with promotional efforts highlighting the film’s lead performances and comedic tone.
