“May fortune favor the foolish.” Vertical has unveiled an official trailer for a comedy movie called Driver’s Ed, a teenagers gone wild road trip comedy adventure from comedy filmmaker Bobby Farrelly (director of Champions & Dear Santa most recently). After premiering at TIFF last year, this will hit VOD to watch at home starting in May this summer. A group of oddball teens hit the road in a stolen driver’s ed car, racing against time to help a lovesick high school senior track down his college-freshman girlfriend and win her back. Farrelly explains why he made it: “I’ve been a big fan of road trip comedies ever since we kicked off our career with Dumb & Dumber. What I particularly loved about making Driver’s Ed is that I got to work from a really clever script and with a very fun and talented cast. Win win!” Starring Sam Nivola, Sophie Telegadis, Mohana Krishnan, Kumail Nanjiani, and Molly Shannon, with Alyssa Milano & Tim Baltz. Looks fun enough for a watch! Mostly to see what kinda trouble they end up in & how they find a cat.

The film follows a group of teens who hit the road in a stolen driver’s ed car, racing against the clock to help a lovesick high school senior (Sam Nivola) track down his college freshman girlfriend (Lilah Pate) and win her back. Over the course of one chaotic 24-hour journey, they’re chased by school security and the cops, targeted by small-time crooks, and somehow end up adopting a three-legged cat. Driver’s Ed is a comedy directed by American comedy filmmaker Bobby Farrelly, one half of the Farrelly Brothers, now on his own – director of the movies Champions and Dear Santa, plus the series “Loudermilk” and “The Now”, after finishing Dumb and Dumber To with his brother Peter (final film together). The screenplay is written by Thomas Moffett (An Actor Prepares). Produced by Jennifer Pate & Jonas Pate. Made by AGC Studios. This initially premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last year. Vertical debuts Farrelly’s Driver’s Ed movie in select US theaters + on VOD starting May 15th, 2026 coming up this summer. Anyone into this?
