It’s taken nearly six decades, but Harrison Ford is finally projected to nab his first Emmy at the upcoming 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2025, he received his first Emmy nomination ever, notably for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance as Dr. Paul Rhoades in the Apple TV+ show Shrinking. And it’s looking like the 83-year-old actor is primed not only to earn a nomination for the same role this year, but to win the category outright. Nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on July 8, 2026, with the main ceremony scheduled to air on September 14 on NBC and Peacock.

Harrison Ford has the early lead to win Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy
Harrison Ford is at the top of the list in multiple early predictions to take home an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2026.
His main competition in the category is expected to include his fellow Shrinking actor Michael Urie, Paul W. Downs in Hacks, Ben Kingsley in Wonder Man, Ebon Moss-Bachrach in The Bear, Bowen Yang for Saturday Night Live, Nick Offerman in Margo’s Got Money Troubles, and Daniel Radcliffe for The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.
On the prediction market Kalshi, a bet on who will win the Emmy Award for Comedy Supporting Actor has Harrison Ford with a clear lead at 68%. In a distant second is Nick Offerman with 21%. Other notable mentions who have an outside shot are Michael Urie at 12%, Ebon Moss-Bachrach at 5%, and Tyler James Williams at 5%.
In addition, a poll on GoldDerby on who will be nominated for Comedy Supporting Actor at the 2026 Emmys has Harrison Ford in the lead as well (as of April 22). The full list of odds show a wider list of contenders in the category:
- Harrison Ford (Shrinking) – 95.05%
- Michael Urie (Shrinking) – 91.65%
- Paul W. Downs (Hacks) – 89.80%
- Ebon Moss Bachrach (The Bear) – 83.46%
- Tyler James Williams (Abbott Elementary) – 79.60%
- Nick Offerman (Margo’s Got Money Troubles) – 67.39%
- Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) – 65.84%
- Marcello Hernandez (Saturday Night Live) – 18.24%
- Andrew Scott (The Comeback) – 17.31%
- Ben Kingsley (Wonder Man) – 11.13%
Early predictions for the upcoming award show from Variety have chosen Ford to win his first Emmy as well, noting that “the buzz surrounding Harrison Ford is equally strong, building the case that it is time for the screen legend to finally claim a statuette.” Much of this momentum comes off a strong finale for the third season of Shrinking that is helping to propel Jason Segel in the Outstanding Lead Actor category and the show itself to be “tied as a projected nomination leader with 12 mentions alongside HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt.”
Another advantage in favor of Ford’s win is that last year’s winner in the category, Jeff Hiller for the HBO series Somebody Somewhere, will not be contention at the 2026 Emmys since that show has concluded. The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards honors TV programming from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, and will debut the new Legacy Award for shows that have had a lasting impact on audiences and the industry.
Ford most recently won the Lifetime Achievement Award at SAG-AFTRA’s 2026 Actor Awards, where he joked that the honor seemed premature because he thought he was only at the “half point” of his career. He specifically thanked George Lucas and Steven Spielberg for his roles as Han Solo and Indiana Jones, both of which have made him a household name. On a recent podcast, the actor recalled having to deal with depression in his early life, which eventually led to him to try acting in college.
