Warner Bros. is pushing deeper into prestige filmmaking with a fresh banner and a major creative partnership. The studio has locked in Sean Baker’s Anora follow-up, signaling a big step forward.
Sean Baker’s Ti Amo! to release through new label Clockwork
The new film, titled Ti Amo!, will arrive under a newly launched Warner Bros. division called Clockwork. The label was unveiled at CinemaCon by studio heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy (via Variety).
Clockwork will be led by former Neon executive Christian Parkes, who played a key role in campaigns for films like Parasite and Longlegs. He’s joined by Jason Wald and Spenser Collantes, both also coming from Neon. The idea is reportedly to back bold filmmakers and release two to three carefully crafted films each year with strong marketing strategies.
At the center of this launch is Sean Baker’s next film, which follows his Oscar-winning momentum from Anora. The original tells the story of a Brooklyn dancer who quickly marries the son of a wealthy oligarch, which soon leads to messy and unexpected problems. The film currently has a solid IMDb rating of 7.4/10.
Unlike his past collaborations with indie studios like A24 and Neon, this marks his move into a larger studio system. Baker will write and direct the project himself.
Speaking earlier to Variety about his upcoming project, Baker described it as “my love letter to the Italian sex comedies of the ’60s and ’70s.” That gives a hint about the tone and inspiration behind the project. He is also reuniting with producers Alex Coco and Samantha Quan, continuing the team that powered his last success.
With a strong creative team and a new studio label focused on filmmaker-driven stories, this project sets the tone for what Clockwork aims to become in the coming years.
