Warner Bros. is officially developing a new Westworld project, following the cancellation of the acclaimed HBO adaptation in 2022. This time, the studio is planning to produce a Westworld remake, inspired by the original 1973 movie.

What do we know about the Westworld remake?
According to Deadline, Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp has been tapped to pen the screenplay for the new Westworld remake, which would bring the Wild West adult fantasy theme park to life once again. The outlet also shared that the studio is already in negotiations with a major filmmaker to helm the project. Further details about the new project are still under wraps.
The original movie was written and directed by Michael Crichton. It served as Crichton’s feature-length directorial debut. It starred Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin, James Brolin, Norman Bartold, Alan Oppenheimer, Victoria Shaw, Dick Van Patten, Linda Gaye Scott, Steve Franken, and more. The sci-fi film took place in an amusement park filled with human-like androids catering to every guest’s Wild West fantasies. However, chaos ensues when one of the robot hosts starts malfunctioning and begins to attack the guests.
Meanwhile, HBO adapted Westworld into a TV show, which lasted for four seasons. It was created and executive-produced by showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. The star-studded cast consisted of Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Luke Hemsworth, Rodrigo Santoro, Angela Sarafyan, Ed Harris, and more. During its run, it received multiple awards, including winning 9 out of 54 Emmy nominations. Unlike the original movie, the show got to explore more parts of the park outside of the Old West theme, including Shōgunworld and Warworld.
