Two-time World Cup winners France get their 2026 campaign underway on Tuesday night as they face off against Senegal in New Jersey.

France, who lifted the trophy in 1998 and 2018, are out for redemption this summer after losing the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar against Argentina on penalties.
Didier Deschamps’ side, who are in Group I alongside Senegal, Norway and Iraq, are expected to dominate their group before turning their attention to bigger knockout games.

France are the second favourites to win it all this summer and it’s hard to go against them given their incredible squad depth.
Senegal, who were stripped of their Africa Cup of Nations title earlier this year after ‘forfeiting’ the game by walking off the pitch, topped their World Cup qualifying group after going unbeaten (won seven, drawn three). They also netted 22 goals and conceded just three times.
The African side, who reached the round of 16 in 2022, should get out of Group I but it remains to be seen whether they can win a knockout game this summer.
