*Warning – contains spoilers for all 10 episodes of Widow’s Bay season 1.*

The final episode of Widow’s Bay season 1 has now arrived on Apple TV, and it featured a horrifying revelation for Matthew Rhys‘s Tom Loftis.
It’s fair to say that the curse which has afflicted Loftis’s New England island town is still very much ongoing, and it would be a hefty, personal price to pay for it to be lifted once and for all.
But will we get to see how this plays out in a future season, after the first run has become such a huge hit with viewers and critics alike?

Will there be a Widow’s Bay season 2?

There will! Widow’s Bay was officially renewed for a second season on 11 June, before the first season had even finished airing.
Creator, showrunner and executive producer Katie Dippold said in a statement: “Season two is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about.”
Meanwhile, Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV said: “From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been hooked on every eerie mystery, unexpected laugh and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro [Murai, executive producer and director], Matthew and the entire team have created.
“It’s become one of those shows everyone’s talking about, and we’re thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We can’t wait to return for another season.”
When will Widow’s Bay season 2 be released?

It’s hard to say when Widow’s Bay season 2 will arrive on Apple TV. The show’s early renewal will no doubt help speed things along, but we could still have a wait on our hands.
The first season was ordered by Apple in September 2024, and it took almost two years for it to air. If season 2 follows a similar pattern, or even if it is hopefully slightly quicker to produce, fans might have to wait until sometime in 2028 to see the new episodes.
We will keep this page updated if we get any further information regarding the release date for Widow’s Bay season 2.
Who will return to star in Widow’s Bay season 2?

No cast members have yet been officially confirmed for Widow’s Bay season 2, but we are certainly expecting Matthew Rhys to be back as Tom Loftis, along with Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root and Kevin Carroll.
In fact, we’d likely expect all of the major players from season 1 to be back, potentially including K Callan’s Ruth Livingston, who was wounded but alive at the end of the season, and Kingston Rumi Southwick as Tom’s son Evan Loftis.
At the end of the season, it was revealed that Evan is a living descendantsof Richard Warren – meaning his survival ensures that the island remains cursed.
You can find a full list of the central cast members we might expect to see back here:
- Matthew Rhys as Tom Loftis
- Kate O’Flynn as Patricia Moyer
- Stephen Root as Wyck Crawford
- Kevin Carroll as Bechir Clemmons
