One of the longest running shows in CW’s history, All American, is bowing out on an expected high with season 8.

The new season kicks off in the US this week, with episodes airing all the way up until September. Thankfully, UK fans can now enjoy the sports drama for themselves as the series is available to stream on ITVX.
But along with the season 8 renewal last year also came the confirmation that this would be All American’s last hurrah, with CW’s president Brad Schwartz saying at the time that they are “honoured to bring it back for one final season to give fans a chance to say a meaningful goodbye to these inspiring characters and this incredible world.”
But, might there be a ninth season of All American? Read on for everything you need to know.

Unfortunately, there won’t be a ninth season of All American.
It has been confirmed that All American will return for an eighth and final season, which is set to premiere on CW in the US on Monday 13 July. There will be 13 episodes in total, with episodes airing weekly until the anticipated finale, which is expected to air on Monday 28 September.
At the time of the show’s renewal and ending announcement, showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll said: “How do I condense into just a few words what would be the longest love letter to this show, the fans, the cast, crew, staff, and producers. My heart is so filled with love and gratitude for everyone who helped bring All American to life and kept it going for its historic run.
“It is so hard to say goodbye to the thing that you love, but we are so excited we get to do it in the way we envisioned with this final season. Thank you to Brad Schwartz, Channing Dungey, Brett Paul, and Greg Berlanti for supporting our vision. Thank you to the many executives at Warner Bros. Discovery, CW and Berlanti Productions who have been a supportive part of the All American huddle since day one.”
She continued: “Thank you to our OG and new generation cast members, our writers, crew and full staff for raising the bar every episode. Thank you to Spencer Paysinger, whose life inspired this epic journey.
“And thank you to everyone who not only watched the show, but took Spencer James’s mantra of ‘Dream Big. Stay Real’ to heart and were inspired to chase their seemingly impossible dreams. We see you. We salute you. Here’s to leaving it all on the field one last time.”
Schwartz, president of CW, also said: “The series took bold new steps in season seven, adding exciting new characters to the ones we already love, and viewers truly embraced it all. We cannot wait to see the emotion, heart, and magic that Nkechi Okoro Carroll and the entire cast and creative team deliver in giving this story the proper ending it deserves.”
Seeing as season 7 left on quite the cliffhanger, season 8 is set to be an exciting final chapter for the long-running series as it picks back up six months after the events of season 7 and will only span one week in the lives of the Beverly and Crenshaw crew.
The show has been inspired by the life of NFL player Spencer Paysinger, previously centring on Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) as he pursued his dreams of playing for the NFL. As the seasons and years have gone on, we’ve seen focus shift to Spencer’s friends and their complicated lives, as well as a group of new high school students.
The final season’s cast is expected to include Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, Bre-Z, Osy Ikhile, Alexis Chikaeze, Nathaniel Logan McIntyre, Antonio J Bell, Kareem Grimes and Lauryn Hardy.
