A celebrity stylist named Leslie Fremar recently claimed that she’s the real-life inspiration behind the character Emily from Lauren Weisberger’s best-selling novel and its adapted sequels, The Devil Wears Prada. The character played by Emily Blunt originally served as a junior assistant to Miranda Priestly before she was promoted to seniority. She mentioned that she was the one who hired Weisberger to work for Anna Wintour at Vogue.

Leslie Fremar claims she is real-life Emily from The Devil Wears Prada movies
In a recent conversation with Vogue’s The Run-Through, Fremar confidently stated that she is the real-life Emily, a character many are familiar with through Lauren Weisberger’s book and Emily Blunt’s portrayal in the 2006 classic.
She revealed that she had even quoted to Weisberger that “a million girls would kill for the job,” an iconic line that also made its way into the film. Claiming it was something she said in real life, she added, “That was definitely my line because I actually really believed that, and I knew that she didn’t necessarily wanna be there.”
Fremar revealed that she became aware of the release of the best-selling book when she quit her job at Vogue. She mentioned that Wintour called and asked if she could meet her. Wintour further revealed to her that her junior assistant, Weisberger, whom Fremar had hired, had written a book about them. Wintour also told her that Fremar’s character appeared to be much worse than her own.
Fremar revealed that she wanted to ask more questions to her but couldn’t about the book. She revealed that Wintour received an early copy of the novel, which she regards as a “mean” version, but was later made light-hearted. “It just felt like this exposure. Even though someone obviously advised her to make it fiction, it was really based off of a lot of things that, you know, I lived, she lived,” she elaborated.
Additionally, she added that though she didn’t perceive Weisberger as a friend, the book’s release felt “like a betrayal.” She also mentioned that she never spoke to her after she left the job and that a conversation, now, could get “awkward.”
