As fans continue to get their Yellowstone fix with new episodes of spin-off show Dutton Ranch releasing weekly, they are still missing the hit drama’s other spin-off, Marshals, which finished off its first season recently.

Thankfully, they already know that Marshals, which stars Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, will be returning for a second season, with the show having received an early renewal.
Now, there’s even more good news, as Deadline has reported that production has begun on season 2, which is expected to return with new episodes this Autumn.
The quick turnaround time will no doubt be music to fans’ ears, especially in an era where viewers are used to waiting for years at a time for their favourite shows to return.

The first season of Marshals picked up with Kayce following the end of Yellowstone’s fifth season, and revealed that his wife Monica, who was played by Kelsey Asbille, had died off screen.
The synopsis for Marshals says: “With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana.

“Kayce and his teammates – Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means) – must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defence in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate (Brecken Merrill) and his confidantes Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) and Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) from the Broken Rock reservation.”
Monica’s death has led the way to potential new romantic storylines for Kayce moving forward, including one with Ellyn Jameson’s Dolly Weaver.
This storyline has an element of Romeo and Juliet about it, as Dolly is the daughter of Chris Mulkey’s Tom Weaver, who has been trying to buy Kayce’s East Camp.
