5 great action movies on Netflix that are perfect for the summer

Posted on June 9, 2026June 9, 2026 By webseriesdownload No Comments on 5 great action movies on Netflix that are perfect for the summer

Summer has long been synonymous with blockbuster entertainment. It’s the season that gave us some of cinema’s biggest action franchises, unforgettable heroes, and larger-than-life spectacles designed to be experienced with the volume turned up. While movie theaters remain the traditional home of summer blockbusters, Netflix has quietly assembled a strong lineup of action movies that deliver the same sense of excitement from the comfort of your couch.

Whether you’re in the mood for explosive shootouts, futuristic battles, globe-spanning adventures, or high-stakes thrillers, there’s no shortage of action-packed entertainment available on the streaming service. These are the Netflix action movies that stand out as perfect summer viewing, combining spectacle, adrenaline, and pure escapist fun.

All movies are currently streaming on Netflix.

Red Notice (2024)

Netflix has released plenty of action movies over the years, but few have matched the star power of Red Notice. Dwayne Johnson stars as an FBI profiler who reluctantly teams up with notorious art thief Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds) to track down an even more elusive criminal played by Gal Gadot. What follows is a globe-trotting adventure filled with double-crosses, elaborate heists, and plenty of comedic banter between its three leads.

Red Notice knows exactly what kind of movie it wants to be. Rather than aiming for gritty realism, it embraces the fun of classic blockbuster entertainment, mixing action, comedy, and adventure into an easy crowd-pleaser. The chemistry between Johnson, Reynolds, and Gadot keeps the story moving, while the film’s international settings and larger-than-life set pieces make it feel tailor-made for summer viewing. If you’re looking for a light, entertaining action movie that doesn’t require much homework, Red Notice is an easy addition to your watchlist.

The Creator (2023)

Few recent action movies have looked as ambitious as The Creator. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film takes place in a future where humanity is locked in a war against artificial intelligence. John David Washington stars as Joshua, a former special forces agent who is sent to track down a mysterious weapon capable of ending the conflict, only to discover that it takes the form of an AI child.

While the story explores familiar sci-fi themes, The Creator stands out because of its breathtaking visuals and immersive world-building. Edwards creates a futuristic setting that feels both epic and believable, delivering the kind of large-scale action and spectacle that make it a perfect summer blockbuster. For viewers looking for a visually striking action movie with plenty of substance, The Creator is an easy recommendation.

Creed (2015)

Nearly four decades after Rocky Balboa first stepped into the ring, Creed breathed new life into one of cinema’s most beloved franchises. Michael B. Jordan stars as Adonis Creed, the son of legendary boxer Apollo Creed, who is determined to forge his own path in the sport. To do that, he turns to a reluctant Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), who agrees to train the young fighter despite his own personal struggles.

While Creed delivers plenty of thrilling boxing sequences, its greatest strength is the relationship between Adonis and Rocky. The film balances crowd-pleasing sports drama with genuine emotional depth, creating a story that’s as inspiring as it is entertaining. Summer movie season has always been built on stories about determination, perseverance, and overcoming the odds, and Creed embodies all of those qualities. Whether you’re a longtime Rocky fan or discovering the franchise for the first time, it’s an easy movie to root for from start to finish.

The Gray Man (2022)

Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans headline The Gray Man, a globe-trotting action thriller from the Russo brothers. Gosling plays Sierra Six, a highly skilled CIA operative who uncovers dangerous agency secrets and suddenly finds himself the target of an international manhunt led by Evans’ ruthless Lloyd Hansen.

The Gray Man embraces the kind of big-budget action that defined summer blockbusters for decades. Between its star-studded cast, international locations, and nonstop chase sequences, the film rarely slows down once it gets moving. If you’re looking for pure popcorn entertainment with plenty of explosions and espionage, The Gray Man delivers exactly what it promises.

Carry-On (2024)

Carry-On turns a routine day at the airport into a high-stakes fight for survival. Taron Egerton stars as a TSA officer who is blackmailed by a mysterious traveler into allowing a dangerous package onto a flight. With thousands of lives potentially at risk, he must find a way to stop the threat before it’s too late.

What makes Carry-On such an entertaining watch is how effectively it blends action and suspense. Much of the film unfolds in and around a busy airport, creating constant tension as the clock ticks down. Anchored by a strong performance from Egerton and an engaging cat-and-mouse story, Carry-On became one of Netflix’s biggest hits for good reason and is a great pick for viewers who enjoy fast-paced thrillers.
