Nearly a decade after the critical success of Blade Runner 2049, the iconic sci-fi franchise is finally coming back in 2027. However, this time, Blade Runner will be returning in the form of an immersive experience, inspired by the franchise’s epic dystopian universe.

What do we know about the new Blade Runner immersive experience?
Behaviour Interactive and PHI Studio have teamed up to produce the Blade Runner immersive experience, which will be unveiled initially in several North American cities starting in 2027. This project is being developed in collaboration with Alcon Entertainment, the holder of the intellectual property rights to the epic sci-fi franchise.
“Blade Runner is a work that has shaped the collective imagination. We are honored to collaborate with Alcon Entertainment and PHI Studio to deliver an experience that pushes the boundaries of immersion. This project also marks a new chapter in Behaviour’s positioning beyond video games,” Behaviour Interactive executives Dominique Lebel and Shahinaze Hachem said in a statement.
PHI Studio executive director Julie Tremblay added, “Created by Alcon Entertainment, the Blade Runner universe is distinguished by its extraordinary visual and narrative richness, with layered meanings, atmospheres, and storylines that offer a uniquely compelling foundation for immersive storytelling. In collaboration with Behaviour Interactive, we are co-creating an experience that draws on this depth to meet a dual ambition: delivering an experience that fully resonates with fans, while remaining accessible and deeply engaging for new audiences.”
The Blade Runner immersive experience is being described as a multisensory experience that will plunge visitors into a dystopian world that is both visually striking and narratively rich, staying true to the aesthetic and philosophical essence of the cult classic. Behaviour Interactive is a Canada-based video game studio best known for the popular horror game series Dead by Daylight. Meanwhile, PHI Studio’s expertise lies in the field of immersive experiences and XR creation. To bring the project to life, Behaviour Interactive will combine its technical strengths with PHI Studio’s experience.
“As stewards of the Blade Runner universe, we approach every extension with a strong sense of responsibility,” Alcon Entertainment bosses Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove said. Behaviour Interactive and PHI Studio understand what resonates with fans, and we’re confident the experience they’re creating will open an exciting new way to engage with the world.”
At the moment, Alcon Entertainment is also preparing for the highly anticipated 2027 release of its Prime Video miniseries, Blade Runner 2099. The cast includes Michelle Yeoh as Olwen, Hunter Schafer as Cora, Lewis Gribben, Tom Burke, Maurizio Lombardi, Daniel Rigby, Dmitri Abold, Katelyn Rose Downey, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, and Matthew Needham. The series is written and executive-produced by showrunner Silka Luisa, with Jonathan van Tulleken serving as a director.
