Just when it seemed Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) was finally on the straight and narrow in Coronation Street, he’s turned 180 degrees and aimed a gun at his family.

His reign of terror began when he engaged in an affair with ‘sister-in-law’ Abi (Sally Carman-Duttine), though later betrayed her as well by sleeping with James Bailey (Jason Callender).
Carl then framed ‘sister’ Debbie (Sue Devaney) for causing death by dangerous driving, and oddly, she decided to let him get away with it. However, it soon transpired that this was because she was harbouring a long-buried secret.
He was actually her son – not her brother – and she’d allowed her parents to raise him as their own child.
Furious that he’d been lied to for four decades, Carl vowed to make Debbie spend the rest of her life behind bars. That fortunately didn’t happen, and after her release, he decided to pack his bags and leave Weatherfield forever.

She handed him an envelope of money, but before he could make his escape, uncle Kevin (Michael Le Vell) stole the cash back. In revenge, Carl headed to the garage to cut the brakes on Kevin’s car.
Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) spotted him and started to record on his phone, though drunkenly stumbled beside the jack lift and send the motor crashing down onto him. Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) then stepped in to whisk Carl’s lifeless body to hospital.
In today’s episode, Kevin received a letter from another garage in Eccles, asking him to provide a reference for Carl. He made it clear that he wasn’t willing to write the document, and didn’t ordered him to stay out of his life.

Carl then had a brief encounter with old associate Fiona Morley (Sara Poyzer), the woman who asked him to shift stolen cars through Webster’s Autocentre. She offered him some more dodgy work, and handed him a parcel that needed delivering.
Meanwhile, Tyrone was showing off a video that daughter Ruby (Billie Naylor) had created for a school history project. He left his device with Kevin while he nipped to the cafe, unaware that he would also see the video of Carl cutting his brakes.
Furious, Kevin smashed on Carl’s door, ordering to explain himself. Tyrone and Ronnie rushed over, quickly trying to shut the confrontation down.

The group then headed to the garage, where Ronnie implored Carl and Kevin to put their differences to one side and call a truce for Debbie’s sake. It was clear that they weren’t willing to do this, and Tyrone expressed how sick he was of being dragged into the family dramas.
With no resolution being found, Carl grabbed the package from Fiona and produced a gun – aiming it at Kevin.
The men weren’t convinced that it was real, though Tyrone wasn’t prepared to take the risk and wanted to get back to the safety of his family. Feeling utterly defeated by Kevin’s words, Carl slide the weapon across the floor.
He said that if he wasn’t prepared to give him a second chance, he may as well shoot him.
What will Kevin do?
