Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has found himself in yet another nightmarish situation in Emmerdale.
2026 has been a horrific year for the Dingle patriarch. He’s undergone a radical prostatectomy operation following a cancer diagnosis, which occurred at a time of great strife for his family.
At the time, wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) was wrongly imprisoned for manslaughter and human trafficking, after two bodies were found on their homestead Butler’s Farm. She was framed by Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), who was being blackmailed by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
Their ulterior motive was to gain control of Butler’s, forcing Moira into an impossible situation where she had to sell the farm. Cain was then worried about the financial impact it would have on his family, and established a new agricultural venture at Wishing Well Cottage.
It hasn’t exactly been a success. Within the last few weeks, he’s had to push the farming to one side, after learning that his operation wasn’t successful. He also discovered that beloved family pet Monty the dog had cancer, and there was very little they could do.
Then came the revelation that teenage son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) was responsible for setting a number of fires around the village. Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) had been helping him get back on the straight and narrow, and had enrolled him in the local cadets.
This has caused a huge amount of friction between Cain and Graham, who weren’t exactly best of friends anyway.
In today’s episode, Cain agreed to take Kyle on a camping trip. He was dismayed to learn that Graham had been invited along on the adventure, Kyle hoping that his days in the SAS would give him some credit amongst his peers at cadets.
The group headed off in the direction of some woodland, and it didn’t take long for the underlying tension to simmer.
Eventually, Kyle was forced to intervene and a furious Cain stormed off into the distance. Darkness began to fall over the trees, and he lost his footing before trapping his leg under a fallen tree trunk.
