Whilst some are already lining this up to be the British boxing version of Power, Fightland is set to be a gripping series in its own right – and now we have a confirmed release date for Curtis Jackson’s (aka 50 Cent) latest drama.
It’s now been announced that Fightland will be premiering on Sky and NOW on Thursday 27 August here in the UK.
Whilst it’s not too long to wait, UK fans will have to exercise a little bit of patience seeing as the the series debuts first in the US on Friday 31 July on Starz.
Nevertheless, the series seems to be well worth the wait, with it marking the first internationally produced series under Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television banner.
Fans of his shows will be all too familiar with the global success of the Power universe, which kicked off with the original series starring Omari Hardwick, Joseph Sikora and Jackson. After the series concluded in 2020, it went on to spawn multiple spin-offs and is now eyeing an upcoming prequel, Power: Origins, as well as the Sikora-starring spin-off, Power: Legacy.
Whilst Fightland isn’t an explicit part of the Power extended universe, the trailer teases that the series certainly has similar flecks of action, high stakes, sex and drama that fans of the OG series have come to know and love.

In the starring role is Top Boy‘s Howard Charles who stars as Duke, a former heavyweight champion who is on a mission for vengeance. As per the synopsis: “On the night that British-born boxer Duke Kilroy (Howard Charles) becomes world heavyweight champion, a vicious assault leaves his brother, Calvin, dead.
“Duke is devastated and his reaction in the aftermath costs him eight years in a US prison. Upon his release, and after having made a sinister discovery, Duke returns home seeking vengeance against the man he believes set him up — the criminal kingpin and his former promoter Kingsley Marshall (Nicholas Pinnock). But Kingsley has vanished, leaving his children and wife, Joy (Deborah Ayorinde), who happens to be the love of Duke’s life, to pick up the pieces.”

It continues: “Working with a cartel desperate to control London’s drug market, Duke begins a high-risk game of infiltrating Kingsley’s empire to destroy it from within and smoke out his enemy.
“But amidst a volatile criminal landscape, and competing influences threatening to pull him off course, Duke will need to channel everything that made him a champion fighter into his bloody pursuit to win the ultimate victory – revenge for his brother.”
The new series also features the likes of Nicholas Pinnock (Two Weeks in August) and Deborah Ayorinde (Riches), with the cast also being rounded out by Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Cebella ‘Cece’ Marshall, Charles Babalola as Ezekiel ‘Zeek’ Marshall, Tahirah Sharif (The Tower) as Kim Harper, Tyler Conti (The Gentlemen) as Justin ‘Jay’ Hall and Richard Pepple (The Hack) as Gary ‘Gazzer’ Kilroy.
