A new Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 update suggests that the upcoming third entry in the horror franchise will right a massive wrong that fans believe the second film suffered from.

What will FNAF 3 possibly fix?
While at a panel during the For the Love of Horror convention in Manchester, United Kingdom this past weekend, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 stars Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard teased that their characters, Henry Emily and William Afton, respectively, would be returning for the third film in the franchise. Lillard, who plays the villainous Afton, even joked that he was going to end up killing Ulrich’s character.
The idea was welcomed by fans, many of whom were hoping to see both of the characters interact much more in the film. Lillard’s character, while playing a pivotal role in the first film and still having an overarching presence in the second film, was not featured heavily in the second movie. Instead, his character appeared in a handful of dream sequences and flashbacks and an end of movie tease.
As for Ulrich’s character, Henry Emily, he was revealed to be a business partner of Afton’s, who is also the father of Charlotte, the girl who possesses the Marionette character in the movie that haunts many of the characters. Ulrich and Lillard, of course, are both veterans of the Scream franchise, with the pair infamously appearing as Billy Loomis and Stu Macher in the original film.
When the pair were announced to be cast in the FNAF franchise, fans were hoping that the pair would have scenes together and make it a pseudo Scream reunion as a result. Unfortunately, that never happened, but it seems like the upcoming third movie is set to right the wrongs of its predecessor and give the Scream duo the chance to act together.
Emma Tammi directed the first two Five Nights at Freddy’s movies from a screenplay written by Scott Cawthon, based on Cawthon’s popular horror video game series. The franchise stars Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, Elizabeth Lail, and Mary Stuart Masterson. The sequel also featured Freddy Carter, Theodus Crane, Wayne Knight, and Mckenna Grace. Compared to its 16% Tomatometer rating, the sequel currently holds a high Popcornmeter score of 83% onRotten Tomatoes.
