Naomi Ackie is highly rumoured to be in “final talks” to star in the long-awaited follow-up to horror film It Follows.

It’s been 11 years since It Follows was first released, with fans eager for updates on its planned sequel, titled They Follow, ever since.
Created by David Robert Mitchell, it’s already been confirmed Maika Monroe, who played the original film’s Final Girl Jay Height, will be back for the next instalment.
Now, according to Deadline, British star Naomi Ackie is in the running to star alongside Monroe – and is in final talks to seal the deal.
Ackie is best known for a string of roles including The End of the F***ing World, Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker and Mickey 17.

While Neon, who are producing the film, is yet to make an official comment, Ackie has most recently worked with the company in star-studded comedy I Love Boosters.
The update comes as welcome news for fans, though, considering they have had little to play with since the sequel was confirmed.
They Follow will pick up 10 years after the original movie, which saw college student Jay Height being stalked by a supernatural force after having sex.
As the being starts targeting those around her, Jay realises the only way to get rid of the entity is to pass it on by sleeping with someone else.

On its release at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015, It Follows became a modern horror hit despite its small budget of a reported $1 million – raking in $21.9 million at the global box office.
The team announced plans for a sequel in 2023, but since then updates have been scarce.
The update comes after the box office success of other low-budget horror movies in 2026, which have become record-breaking breakouts in Hollywood.
Obsession, created by Curry Barker on a $750,000 budget, has currently earned $229 million at the box office and counting after just four weeks, becoming the most profitable movie ever created by Focus Features.
Backrooms, which was made by Kane Parsons on $10 million, was released at the end of May, and at the time of writing has already made $216 million, becoming A24’s most successful release of all time.
